WVHS Humane Officers Conduct Seizure of 44 Dogs and 16 Birds

Large Dog and Bird Confiscation Case

March 17, 2023 – Wenatchee Valley Humane Society Humane (WVHS) Humane Officers served a warrant on March 16, 2023, to an individual living in Chelan County and confiscated 44 dogs, and 16 birds living in overcrowded conditions without access to proper ventilation, sanitation, fresh water or proper veterinary care. The on site search and seizure extended over a five-hour long period. All of the animals have been examined medically and behaviorally by the WVHS expert Shelter Medicine Veterinary Team and its Behavior Manager.

This is an extensive undertaking for the organization and one of the largest seizures that has been performed by the WVHS. The staff of animal welfare professionals have been working around the clock to ensure each individual animal receives the best possible care.

This is an active cruelty case and WVHS is unable to accept inquiries about the individual animals or the specifics of the case itself at this time. This case is the result of several weeks of investigative work by humane officers.

WVHS will be releasing more information as it’s able in the coming weeks and months as this case progresses.

The WVHS team did incredible and compassionate work. The organization is grateful for the assistance and support from the Chelan County Sheriff's Department.
