Have you witnessed an animal being abused or neglected?

    • First, get as much information as possible about exactly what is occurring: Type of animal(s), color, breed, what the animal may be doing and owner’s name & address of where the animal lives if known. If owner information is unknown, you should still report the incident.

Please Note: Animal Care and Control cannot take 3rd party reports. While we understand hearing about or seeing an animal in need on social media can be emotional and, at times, distressing. The best way to help a pet you suspect is being abused or neglected is with a report from the person with first hand knowledge of the situation (is witness to it). WVACC often has follow up questions that only someone who has witnessed the issue can likely answer. Please encourage the original witness to call 509-888-7283 (888-SAVE) and report the situation.

    • If it is safe, take photos or video. This kind of information is extremely useful to officers and will give them the best ‘full picture’ of the situation.

Then, call Wenatchee Valley Animal Care and Control at 509-888-7283 (888-SAVE), to reach our Dispatcher.

If you call and receive voicemail, please leave a detailed message- including a call back number. We will return your call as soon as possible.

Did you Know?

Pet owners are required to provide animals with necessary food, water, shelter, sanitation, space, ventilation, and medical attention when needed.

Animals cannot be tethered on sidewalks, in alleys, or any other place open to the public. All city, county, and state parks require pets to be leashed for the safety of all park users.

If your pet rides in the vehicle with you the safest place is in the cab or pickup bed with a canopy. If your pet rides in the back of an open truck bed they are safest in a secure crate. Should you tether your pet in an open pickup bed be certain they are secure and the tether is not long enough to allow them over the side of the pickup bed.

Pets in Vehicles

Animal Care and Control may or may not have the ability to respond to livestock at large complaints depending on jurisdiction, but will investigate cruelty and neglect cases involving livestock. For areas WVACC does not cover, your local Sheriff’s Office may be able to assist.

livestock

summer can be deadly for your pet

Even 10 minutes in a car on a hot day can be deadly for your pet. Temperatures can reach 160 degrees in minutes, and can cause heat stroke, permanent brain damage, or even death. Leaving the windows cracked won’t cool the car enough to protect your pet.

Of course your pet would like to go with you, but when the weather turns warm, better park your pet at home! Make sure your pet has plenty of water at all times. If left outside your pet(s) will need shelter so they can get out of the sun and have a cool place to rest.

If you need help making sure that your pet stays cool in the Summer or warm in the Winter, give us a call! We’re always happy to help as much as we can.

If you are concerned about an Animal or have any questions about the State and Local Laws for minimum care requirements, contact WVACC

community & Feral cats

If you have questions about free-roaming cats or feral cats, please visit our page dedicated to our local cats at https://www.wenatcheehumane.org/tnr

WVACC can always help answer questions, provide education, or point you in the right direction for healthy outdoor living cats that you may be concerned about.

WVACC services for healthy free-roaming cats are limited to identifiable cats (where an owner can be identified) within the City limits of Wenatchee.

In all other jurisdictions, WVACC only responds to severely sick or injured cats that are contained or immobile. If you witness an injured cat, but cannot contain them, snap a photo or video if you can, and then contact WVACC to see if we can further assist. 509-888-SAVE(7283)
