Pets & People Outdoors
Pets & People Outdoors is a Wenatchee Valley Humane Society initiative that brings people and their dogs together to explore parks, trails, and dog-friendly spaces in our community.
In partnership with groups like the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust, we celebrate the human-animal bond while promoting respectful, responsible use of public spaces.
We have six events planned for 2025—and more to come—designed to build community, encourage outdoor activity, and connect pet lovers across the region.

Save a Tiny Life
There is a critical need in the community to provide immediate care and resources for orphaned unweaned kittens aged 0-4 weeks old. During the spring and summer months hundreds of kittens are born to community cats in Chelan and Douglas Counties. Sometimes these tiny lives depend on our help for survival.
The Save A Tiny Life campaign aims to provide essential support to unweaned kittens in need of care, promote kitten welfare, and reduce kitten mortality rates. The goal is to recruit fosters, raise funds to provide nursing kits and raise awareness around community cats during kitten season and beyond.

Doggie Dates
Doggie Dates gives our shelter dogs a much-needed break and gives you a chance to enjoy a few hours with a new furry friend. Whether it’s a day at the park, a coffee run, or just lounging at home, these outings help reduce stress for our dogs and boost their adoptability.
It’s easy to participate—just visit our shelter during open hours, and we’ll provide a backpack with everything you need. No long-term commitment, just a fun and meaningful way to make a difference in a dog’s day.

Canine Connect
Our newest program is all about getting our shelter dogs out into the community to love and be loved. Through Canine Connect, local businesses, organizations, schools, and groups can invite a shelter dog to visit and help bring comfort, connection, education, and joy to the people there.
These visits are enriching not only for the people we meet, but for our shelter dogs too — giving them valuable socialization, new experiences, and lots of extra love along the way.
Interested in having a shelter dog visit your workplace, organization, classroom, or community group? We’d love to connect with you! Call us at (509) 423-9376 to learn more about our Canine Connect program.
