Who was Helen Zilke?
In August 2009, Helen Zilke, passed way at the age 92. As part of her legacy, she left $1.1 million to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society. This generous contribution was made unannounced and with no request for recognition. Mrs. Zilke's family is proud of her big heart and grateful for this recognition of her devotion to the care of animals.
The Helen Zilke Memorial Garden is a perpetual expression of how compassion and generosity can come together in an extraordinary way, reminding us of the power of the human spirit. Her generosity turned the dream of a new shelter into a reality.
