Animal Ordinances to Consider...
|
|
The following are some of the basic animal control ordinances for Chelan County:
Pet owners are required to provide animals with necessary food, water, shelter, sanitation, space and medical attention if needed.
Supervision law applies to your dog when off your property in all of Chelan County outside of city limits. Dogs do not need to be on leash, but you do need to be with them and have voice control of them when off your property. Streets and sidewalks are public property. Note: aggressive dog behavior is not considered proper supervision.
Barking and whining habitually throughout the day or night is not allowed. The Chelan County Sheriff's Department handles these calls.
Feces must be kept from accumulating on your property. Feces can not offend your neighbors.
Licensing your dog is required annually at the age of 4 months old and up if you live in an urban growth boundary. May 14th is the deadline if the dog has been previously licensed in Chelan County. Licenses are obtained through the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society during regular business hours. Click here for licensing information & costs.
Cats are allowed to roam the neighborhood but your neighbors have the right to insist on your cats stay off their property if causing damage.
Rabies vaccinations for all animals must be kept current.
Kennel registration is required in the urban growth area if owning more than 4 dogs per home.
